About the prototype:

   The digital midi sampler stereo Akai S5000 is designed for creating, processing and compiling sound samples. The sampler's front panel features a large, backlit 320x240 graphical LCD display with sixteen dedicated function keys located on either side of the screen, allowing easy control of the sixteen most commonly used programming functions. The sampler's front panel also houses a power button, a standard floppy ddisc, a "Data" wheel for navigation, volume and headphone knobs and display contrast adjustment, a number pad, a headphone jack, and left and right channels.
  The Akai S 5000 has a built-in control panel with eight analog outputs (expandable to sixteen) and a rear-panel stereo main analog output, as well as 64-voice polyphony, which can be expandable to 128 (US version). The rear panel of the sampler also features SPDIF or AES/EBU digital I/O on balanced or optical jacks, which is standard, so the sampler is capable of handling up to sixteen separate analog outputs, configurable as 8 stereo pairs or 16 individual mono outputs. The rear panel of the sampler also features two x SCSI ports for easy connection to disk drives, Wordclock input  for easy integration into an all-digital environment, 2 x MIDI IN/OUT/THRU for 32-channel multitimbral operation and the optional ADAT™ digital audio interface giving 16 digital outputs.
   The sampler supports the function of being able to ground the device. The maximum possible memory is 256 MB SIMM. The sampler has a FAT32 file system. The programmable operating system works based on icons and GUI (graphical user interface). There is also a 3-band off-line digital equalizer.
   The sampler is suitable for the interiors of recording studios, music studios, as well as for the interiors of rooms for people who are fond of music.

The sampler is made of metal and plastic.
The colors are white, grey and black.
