About the prototype:
The kitchen santoku knife Wusthof Classic Ikon W-4176 is a universal Japanese kitchen knife (Japanese chef's knife) is designed for chopping herbs, cutting vegetables and fruits, as well as cutting meat and fish. The word "santoku" literally means "three good things" or "three uses", so this type of knife is used to cut, chop and crumble well. The knife is forged from a single piece of X50CrMoV15 stainless steel (a special alloy steel composition) with a hardness of 58 HRC on the Rockwell scale and has gone through a multi-level blade hardening process. The blade of the knife is wide with a flat cutting edge with double-sided sharpening and a butt in the form of the so-called "sheep's foot". The blade of the knife is equipped with a series of oval recesses along the cutting edge, called "air pockets" or grantons (after the name of the company Granton, which first patented these pockets), to reduce sticking to the blade of the cut products. There are the manufacturer's logo, series and number, as well as steel marking on the blade of the knife. The knife is equipped with an ergonomically balanced handle with polymer overlays fixed with six rivet. The knife is designed for professional and home use and is suitable for decorating the interiors of kitchens, dining rooms, kitchen-living rooms, as well as the interiors of kitchens of restaurants and catering establishments, made in any stylistic direction.
The blade is made of stainless steel Х50CrMoV15 with a hardness of 58 HRC on the Rockwell scale.
