Description
3D model of a pencil sharpener by Raymond Loewy 1933-1934
About the prototype:
The pencil sharpener was invened in 1933-1934 by the famous American industrial designer Raymond Loewy in his characteristic aerodynamic or streamline style. The shape of the sharpener resembles both a raindrop and an aircraft engine. The handle of the sharpener is made of wood and in its shape and location resembles a car side rear-view mirror. The sharpener has become a symbol of the American Industrial Revolution and a classic example of the streamline style. At the same time, the sharpener was never mass-produced; it was created as a single example as the embodiment of the idea of technical progress of that time. The sharpener is suitable for the interiors of industrial and object design museums and art history museums.
The pencil sharpener is made of metal and wood.
